Forward Esther Okoronkwo has been named in the Super Falcons squad for upcoming international friendlies against Cameroon as preparations intensify for major continental competition.
The invitation was confirmed by the Nigeria Football Federation following the release of head coach Justine Madugu’s squad list for the two fixtures scheduled to be played in Yaoundé on February 28 and March 6. The matches form part of Nigeria’s build-up programme ahead of the next edition of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations.
Okoronkwo’s inclusion rewards her recent performances and underlines the technical crew’s desire to test attacking options as the team fine-tunes tactics. Known for her pace, strength and ability to operate across the frontline, the striker is expected to add depth and competition within the squad.
The friendlies will also give the coaching staff a chance to evaluate combinations across all departments, particularly in attack and midfield, as Nigeria aims to maintain its dominance in African women’s football. Officials say the matches are designed to simulate tournament conditions and help players adapt to tactical demands before competitive fixtures resume.
With the countdown to continental action underway, attention will be on how the squad performs against a strong Cameroonian side and which players seize their opportunity to cement places in the final tournament roster.
